The Fairfield Optimist Club is a local branch of Optimist
International. We are heavily involved
in promoting youth and other philanthropic events in the Fairfield and Butler
County, Ohio community. Our club is
well known for our involvement with youth soccer on the grounds around the
Optimist clubhouse. We are proud to say there are two soccer organizations
associated with the Fairfield Optimist Club. In season, various teams
including local High Schools utilize our complex of “pitches” almost
daily. Our organization also hosts the
Mid-American Soccer Classic held every year in April, a
major fundraiser for our endeavors. Among the other events hosted by the club
is the annual Ron Chasteen
Field and Fishing Day on our private fishing lake. Club members host 500
special needs students, educators and staff from the Fairfield City Schools
all day at the club. To enhance their
enjoyment of the day, the club members built a handicapped accessible fishing
dock in 2008. Club members also
provide 100 rods and reels for their use. The Optimist Club hosts three events every
year in conjunction with Butler County
Board of Developmental Disabilities: A Fishing Derby and Picnic in
August, a Halloween Party in October and a visit with Santa in December. We also help to raise funds in support of
the Joe Nuxhall
Miracle League, dedicated to special needs kids & baseball. We work in cooperation with our Paragon Optimist Club for many community based fundraising events. The
club is dedicated to youth enrichment activities throughout the year. Included is our Fairfield Optimist Memorial
Scholarship, awarded each year to a deserving Fairfield resident, high school
